City could be vulnerable

Chelsea lifted themselves into 10th place after a chaotic 4-1 win at Tottenham on Monday night and it would be folly to think that result has solved all their problems.

Spurs looked the better side until a couple of controversial moments, in which Iyenoma Udogie escaped a red card before Christian Romero was given his marching orders. Those incidents turned the game the Blues’ way but they took their time to make it count.

However, it will have given them a much-needed lift ahead of this contest and the fact that City have lost twice on the road already this term may also raise their level of optimism.

Wolves and Arsenal got the better of the Light Blues in the league, and in defeat at the Emirates Pep Guardiola’s men managed just one shot on target. That was also the case in the 1-0 League Cup defeat at Newcastle – so there is plenty for Chelsea to ponder.

The Blues have enough quality to spring a surprise at a decent price but it would be wise to keep the draw on side as back-up.

Expect goals at the Bridge

Only one of the past nine meetings has featured more than four goals but a lively encounter can be expected at Stamford Bridge.

The nets have been bulging in City’s matches recently where they have scored at least three in their past four outings and Chelsea may struggle to keep them out.

However, the hosts have plenty of firepower of their own and may finally be able to get summer signing Christopher Nkunku in on the action after his long-term injury.

The France international will be keen to make up for lost time and Chelsea are desperate to gain ground in the Premier League, so an open affair could be in the offing.

It is 2/1 that there are at least four goals – and that looks a value bet.

Chelsea vs Manchester City tip 2: Over 3.5 goals @ 2/1 with Sky Bet

Jackson the danger man

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson bagged a hat-trick at Tottenham on Monday and his new-found confidence should help him put in a lively performance at Stamford Bridge.

The Senegalese striker had five shots on target in that match and is averaging three shots at goal in the Premier League this season. That looks a decent starting point for a bet builder that also includes 10 or more shots on target in the match and Chelsea picking up the most bookings points.

The Blues had five yellows against Spurs and are averaging just over three cautions per match. If City do get on top, frustration could creep into the home side who may fall foul of the referee more than their visitors.

City are averaging just over seven shots on target per match and Chelsea almost five, so add 10 or more shots on target into the mix for a decent return at 6/1.

Chelsea vs Manchester City tip 3: Bet builder: Nicolas Jackson 3+ shots, 10+ total match shots on target, Chelsea most booking points @ 6/1 with Sky Bet
